2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L
Dark red in color, this wine has notes of blackberry and mocha with hints of plum and sage. On the palate, the impeccably balanced wine is dark, fleshy and supple, with notes of espresso and bittersweet chocolate and a touch of black cherry on the finish.
HARVEST & WINEMAKING
The grapes used to produce this wine are from the best appellations in Napa Valley from the best growers. A list of our growers include: Sequoia Grove Estate vineyard, Tonella Estate vineyard, Stagecoach, Morisoli, Lamoreaux, Henry Brothers, Healy and Christian vineyard.
Each site was harvested at its ideal brix, ranging between 24.9 and 29.4, and picked over the course of four weeks, from September 13th through October 18th. The fruit was hand sorted before undergoing a 1-2 day cold soak. The lots were individually fermented in small batches, with gentle pumpovers 2-3 times per day. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel, where it was aged for 20 months before being racked and bottled in August 2015.
THE 2013 VINTAGE
The 2013 harvest was unbelievable in many ways. December 2012 was extremely wet which set us up nicely to endure an arid 2013 growing season. Vine growth started early, giving us plenty of time to ripen another fantastic crop. Harvest was a winemaker’s dream. This was the first vintage in a long time where the moderate fall temperatures meant winemakers were able to take their time—no rain nor heat spikes to get in the way of bringing in picture-perfect grapes.
