Few names in California viticulture carry the weight of Hyde. Larry Hyde planted his vineyard in Los Carneros in 1979, at a time when few believed in the region’s potential, and over the decades he became one of Napa Valley’s most respected growers. He was known for his curiosity and precision: he planted a wide range of clones and set the direction of each row to follow the contours of the rolling hills.
The site is shaped by its cool climate. Fog and afternoon winds from San Pablo Bay sweep across the vines, slowing ripening and allowing the fruit to build flavor while keeping its natural brightness. The shallow clay soils keep yields low and concentration high.
Today Hyde Vineyard is a benchmark for California Chardonnay, sought after by some of the state’s most celebrated producers. This bottling is our tribute to that legacy: a focused, elegant expression of a site where nearly five decades of farming can be tasted in the glass.
