Spring is in the air and at Sequoia Grove Winery that means it is time for our Spring Wine Club shipment! We are excited to share our club-exclusive releases with our Wine Club members.
For this release, we’ve selected two bold and expressive reds for enjoying now or for aging in your cellar. Here’s a preview of what you can expect in your shipment:
First up is a member favorite and a perennial food pairing wine, our 2020 Napa Valley Cabernet Franc. This wine is 76% Cabernet Franc, all from our Tonella Estate Vineyard on the eastern side of the valley benchlands, which are heavily influenced by volcanic soils. Garnet red in color, this Cabernet Franc bursts with aromas of black cherry, red currant, black raspberry, rose, violet, and a hint of iron minerality and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is silky and medium-bodied with flavors of dark cherry, pluot, and cranberry, with notes of clove and cinnamon. This wine has fresh juicy acidity and a long finish. Chef suggests pairing this wine with her Adobo Pork and Sweet Corn Elote recipe. This Cabernet Franc is a fruit-driven wine, refreshingly lean, boasting a spice-laden elegance. The understated flavor and tender texture of the pork allow soft berry notes to shine, while the layered nuance of the adobo bolsters complexity. The sweet richness of the elote softens youthful acidity and tannin making this already drinkable wine even more enjoyable.
For our Cab lovers, we are excited to introduce our 2019 Lamoreaux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine opens with aromas of blackberry cobbler, wild dark fruit, vanilla, black currant, and savory bramble. On the palate, this wine is silky and full-to-medium bodied with soft tannins framing a delicate but weighted feel in the mouth followed by a long finish. The flavors are layered with blackberry juice, thyme, dried fruit, leather, and white and black peppercorn. This wine pairs perfectly with Chef Britny’s Mushroom and Parmesan Tart.
Last but not least, as an added bonus, we’re dusting off a special library wine and for a limited time! Members can now add our 2015 Tonella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon to spring shipments. On the nose, this classic Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of bright, fresh red fruit and subtle spice, with hints of pepper and truffle in the background. The palate is silky with flavors of cherry, plum, dates, and raspberry. This wine also received 93 Points and a Gold medal in the Sunset International Wine Competition.
