Celebrate the Start of the 2024 Harvest Season

As the sun gently rose over Napa Valley on Monday, August 26th, Sequoia Grove Winery welcomed the arrival of the 2024 harvest season with open arms and eager hearts. The first day of harvest is always a momentous occasion, marking the culmination of a year’s hard work, dedication, and anticipation. This year, we were thrilled to begin our harvest journey with the arrival of 5 tons of pristine Sauvignon Blanc grapes from our very own Estate Vineyard, State Lane, located in the heart of Yountville.

A Promising Start with Sauvignon Blanc

The cool night temperatures leading up to harvest day were a blessing, allowing our Sauvignon Blanc grapes to mature slowly and develop the bright acidity and vibrant flavors that our wines are known for. As the first clusters were carefully handpicked in the early morning hours, there was an unmistakable sense of excitement among our team. These grapes represent not just the beginning of the harvest season but also the promise of another exceptional vintage from Sequoia Grove Winery.

Welcoming Grenache for Our Rosé Lovers

Just a few days later, we welcomed another key player in our harvest lineup: Grenache. We brought in 6 tons of this flavorful grape from the renowned El Diablo Vineyard, destined to become our ever-popular Rosé of Grenache. This wine, with its delicate blush color and refreshing profile, has become a favorite among our guests, wine club members, and our own staff, and we are eager to see how this year’s fruit will shine in the bottle.

In addition to the Sauvignon Blanc and Grenache, we’ve brought in 6 tons of Chardonnay from the esteemed Hudson Vineyard. This renowned vineyard has earned a well-deserved reputation for producing some of the finest Chardonnay from the Carneros region of Napa Valley, and we’re thrilled to be crafting a single vineyard Chardonnay from this exceptional fruit. Be sure to sign up to receive information from Sequoia Grove to be the first to gain access to our Hudson Chardonnay release—it’s sure to be a standout in our portfolio.

Looking Ahead to September and Beyond

As we move into the heart of the harvest season, we anticipate the arrival of our beloved red varietals, with Stagecoach Vineyard Merlot expected to come in during the week following Labor Day. The vineyards are buzzing with activity as our team prepares for the influx of these rich, bold grapes that will eventually become a supporting component of our celebrated Cabernet Sauvignons and other red wines.
