2021 Napa Valley Chardonnay

Our 2021 Napa Valley Chardonnay jumps out of the glass with delicate but full aromas of white stone fruit, yellow flowers, and hints of tropical fruit, accented well with toasted hazelnuts, cashew, and lemon curd. This wine is medium-bodied and focused with flavors of tangerine and pear, wet stone, lemon oil and a long, refreshing finish of mineral and bright acidity. 92 Points, Wine Enthusiast;

2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This classically rich Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is red burgundy in color with aromas of black cherry and creamy vanilla, followed by blueberry, blackberry, cherry cola, and grilled meat. On the palate, this Cabernet Sauvignon is seamless and elegant with silky tannins, intense flavors of cherry and floral notes, and a hint of burnt sugar and roasted nuts. Double Gold, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Challenge; 92 Points, James Suckling; 93 Points and Gold Medal, Press Democrat North Coast Wine Challenge.

2018 Tonella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Dark red in color, this wine pops with aromas of fresh berry, toasted almonds, sugar-coated walnuts, marzipan, blackberry jam, chocolate-covered espresso beans, thyme, herbs de Provence, grilled meat, bacon fat, and wet stone. The palate is rich, big and dense with a flavorful core of violets, blackberry juice and mulberries complemented by fine-grained tannin and juicy finish. 94 Points, James Suckling; 93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck.

2018 Cambium

This wine bursts with aromas of cassis, raspberry, strawberry pound cake, dates, and graphite. Cabernet Franc contributes a spicy, red cherry, floral component while the Merlot adds a note of plum and currant. Background notes of black forest cake, hibiscus tea, cinnamon, lavender, rosemary, and cocoa fill out the nose. The palate is also complex with flavors of espresso and black licorice. This wine is full bodied yet elegant with additional flavors of kirsch and black cherry. Each vintage, the Cambium components are individually selected from the absolute best lots. The 2018 blend consists of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, and 11% Merlot. 93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck.

Our Mission

Wines that tell a story

At Sequoia Grove, we believe that winemaking is storytelling. Our goal is to craft wines that tell the story of the vineyard, the varietal, and the vintage. We believe winemaking starts in the vineyard, and each year we invest in our vineyards so the wines we make will express the terroir of each site year after year.

Demystifying Pairing Starts with a Balanced Wine

Contrary to popular opinion, we believe that Cabernet Sauvignon is extremely versatile and can be paired with a variety of foods. Our wine pairing philosophy is simple: we emphasize crafting wines that are elegant, balanced, and adapt to a wide range of dishes. Our goal is to help you to feel confident to explore and experiment with the widest selection of culinary sensations possible.

Commitment to Quality

We always strive to learn and grow in our pursuit to bring you the best that Napa Valley has to offer. From the vineyards to our state-of-the-art production facility, Sequoia Grove has made a continuous investment in new and better ways to craft our wines. We use the best grapes grown in the best terroir to produce our balanced and food-friendly wines for quality you can taste.

Our History

A Winery Is Born

Our present-day winery and its 24-acre estate vineyard were part of the original Rancho Caymus land grant given in 1836 to George Yount, the area’s first European-American pioneer. Over the years the property changed hands until it was purchased in 1978 by James and Barbara Allen. The following year, the duo opened a winery in a 100-year-old barn beneath a grove of Sequoia trees, and so Sequoia Grove was born.

The Heart of Rutherford

Our 24-acre Sequoia Grove Estate Vineyard and 50-acre Tonella Estate Vineyard are both located in Rutherford, where the superb climate and gravelly-loam soils impart distinct flavor in the Bordeaux varieties.

Farming for the Future

Sequoia Grove Winery is proud to be a Certified Napa Green Winery. Guided by a vision to respect our heritage and farm for the future, we observe sustainable farming practices, with minimal intervention in the vineyard and gentle winemaking in the cellar.

About Our Wines

We own nearly 100 acres of vineyards and work with nine different grape varieties in total. You will find most of these in The Winemaker Series – a single variety range which aims for a high degree of varietal correctness. This array of elegant white, rosé, and red wines ensures you’ll find something you love to help bring out the best in wine and food pairing.

Rutherford’s hot days and cool nights are particularly ideal for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. This is why Cabernet Sauvignon is our champion variety and we are highly regarded for our world-class Reserve and single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon wines.

For those seeking to discover the rich, ruby-red world of the king of the grapes, we invite you to try The Vineyard Series – wines made to showcase site-specific soil, climate, and altitude variations from different vineyards. The Cabernet Sauvignon in this series has included wines from Tonella, Stagecoach, Morisoli, Henry Brothers, Christian and Lamoreaux Vineyards.

The apex of our Cabernet Sauvignon craft is the Cambium, our flagship Cabernet-based red blend. Each year, the Cambium blend is crafted from the finest lots in the cellar, representing the best of our winemaking endeavors.
