About Rutherford Bench Reserve
Rutherford Bench Reserve is our love letter to the heart of Napa Valley. It began with a dream of Sequoia Grove founder Jim Allen’s: a wine built from all five Bordeaux varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon leads, with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec adding depth and nuance. The fruit comes from the Rutherford Bench, a band of uplands along the Mayacamas where mountain runoff has left deep, well-drained alluvial soils that push vine roots far down, yielding wines of real structure and complexity. Our estate blocks and the Tonella Estate Vineyard form its core. The result is a Cabernet of power held in balance: dark fruit, cocoa, and the dusty earth Rutherford is known for, framed by silky tannins built to age.
