Once part of the original Mexican land grants and later owned by the diocese of San Francisco, the property eventually came into the hands of the Rutherford brothers—namesakes of the Rutherford AVA—and finally, the Tonella family.

Renowned for its diverse soil compositions and unique microclimates, Tonella Vineyard has consistently produced fruit that embodies the celebrated essence of Rutherford.
