2014 Tonella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

This elegantly aged Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has immediate aromas of truffle and sauteed mushrooms, opening up to show secondary classic Rutherford characteristics of red cherry and leather. Juicy red cherry and ripe blackberry fills the palate, flowing into a flavorful finish. Will cellar well, 10-15 years. Winery Exclusive. 96 Points from Jonathan Cristaldi of Decanter.

2015 Tonella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

On the nose, this classic Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of bright, fresh red fruit and subtle spice, with hints of pepper and truffle in the background. The palate is silky with flavors of cherry, plum, dates, and raspberry. Decant when young or cellar 10-15 years. 2016 Tonella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

This rich and complex wine opens with classic Rutherford Cabernet aromas of red fruit with a luxuriously soft palate and Rutherford dust sprinkled throughout the finish. On the nose, there are complex aromas of cherry, cola, and wet soil. The palate is fruit forward, earthy, and spicy. This full-bodied wine has balanced acidity and is ready to enjoy with a meal now or will age gracefully 10-15 years. Winery Exclusive. 95 Points from Jeb Dunnuck; 94 Points from James Suckling.

2014 Tonella- 96 Points

Dark ruby in colour. This wine is in a fabulous place, hitting its stride now, balancing youthful black-fruited and brown-spiced exuberance with secondary characteristics of tobacco, sage, white pepper, thyme, and rosemary. Full-bodied and well-endowed, it features firm, structured tannins, ironstone minerality, and dusty, crushed cocoa nibs on the extended, vibrant finish. A real standout in a lineup of 40+ wines tasted at the Napa Valley Vintners on 9 September 2024, exploring the 2014 Napa Cabernets.

2015 Tonella– 92 Points

This wine offers a wealth of complexity on the nose with just-picked black currants, creme caramel, burnt orange, wet earth, bark and cedar. The palate is fruity at first but definitely not overripe. The fine yet muscular tannins and a fresh line of acidity then carry the fruit through to a chewy finish.

2016 Tonella- 95 Points

I loved the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tonella Vineyard, all Cabernet sourced from a vineyard in Rutherford and brought up all in French oak. Complex notes of herbes de Provence, cigar wrapper, damp earth, and both black and blue fruits all flow to a full-bodied 2016 that has the purity and elegance of the vintage front and center. It’s another balanced, incredibly high-quality wine from this team.
