Visit the Best Tasting Room in Napa Valley

What does it take to be an award-winning Tasting Room?

As the proud recipient of Napa Valley Life Magazine’s People’s Choice Award for the Best Napa Valley Tasting Room in both 2020 and 2021, we’re grateful to say we have first-hand experience delighting our guests. For more than 40 years, our team has refined our wine and food pairing expertise to be able to offer you an exciting variety of curated pairings. Whether you are passing through Napa Valley or planning a weekend getaway to Rutherford, we invite you to make a reservation to enjoy one of our memorable tastings.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Sequoia Grove is situated along the popular St. Helena Highway in Napa Valley. Julie Jacobs-Cole, our Hospitality and Business Development Manager, paints a picture of what you can look forward to upon arrival:

“As you enter through our gates, you will be greeted by a towering grove of Sequoia trees (our namesake) located at the front entrance. At 200 feet high, these giants will take your breath away.

Interestingly, one of the trees was struck by lightning in 2003!” she shares.

A circle of sequoias is commonly referred to as a ‘fairy ring’ – a name for a group of redwood trees growing in a circle, usually around the stump of a logged old-growth tree. After a larger tree is cut down, a new generation of trees sprout from the roots of the fallen redwood, often creating a near-perfect circle or ring. These fairy rings are quite rare and, according to Julie, worth the visit alone!

“Once you’ve parked your car, you will be welcomed into a restored barn that was first built in 1908. This is the Sequoia Grove Tasting Room. Here you can choose your tasting. Weather permitting, guests sit outside on our patio underneath the sequoia trees most of the time. Our wine and food experiences are also served in the newly built Cambium room,” explains Julie.

Whatever your tasting selection, you can rest assured that you will be attended to by friendly, knowledgeable hosts in a relaxed setting to experience a variety of world-class wines. “We are a small yet effective team of 19 people. Your positive experience is our priority,” states Julie.

WHICH TASTING SHOULD I BOOK?

Sequoia Grove currently offers three experiences. Each experience is designed by the tasting room team in collaboration with the culinary team, headed up by Winery Chef Britny Maureze.

Julie adds: “We typically change our tastings once every three months to keep things fresh and interesting. Thanks to our diverse portfolio of wines, there is a lot of room to get creative!”

Depending on your taste, interest, and the time you have, here are the following experiences from which you can pick:

#1 A TASTE FOR CABERNET

This is the latest offering in our seasonal tastings. It is inspired by our philosophy that Cabernet Sauvignon and other red wines work with a much wider variety of dishes than the typical red wine, red meat “rules” would permit. The idea here is to push the boundaries of traditional food and wine pairings rules to showcase what is possible with just a few small adjustments. Settle in and enjoy tasting top-tier Single Vineyard and Reserve red wines paired with four culinary delights prepared by our in-house wine and food expert, Chef Britny. We hope that by giving you a taste of what is possible when you think outside the box, we can help you to feel confident to explore and experiment with wine and food pairing when you return home.

Reservations are essential and available Wednesday – Sunday at the following times:
10:30 am, 10:45 am, 11:00 am, 2:00 pm, 2:15 pm, 2:30 pm.
Non-Member: $100 Per Person | Club Member: $80 Per Person

#2 CURRENT RELEASE TASTING

This is a perfect tasting for newcomers to Sequoia Grove! As a winery, we believe everyone should feel comfortable enjoying wine no matter their taste preferences or background knowledge. Sit back and relax as our tasting hosts take you through a curated selection of four wines from the Winemaker Series (often two whites and two reds). The Winemaker Series focuses on single varietal wines and pays tribute to the relationship between grower and winemaker. Should you be feeling peckish, a cheese and charcuterie pairing is available to add to your tasting during your visit.

Reservations required. Limit 6 per party.
Non-Member: $40 Per Person | Club Member: Complimentary For Four Guests

#3 SINGLE-VINEYARD TASTING

Whether you’re a serious Cabernet Sauvignon enthusiast or simply want to level up your wine knowledge, our Single Vineyard tasting is a tasteful introduction to the diversity of terroir in Napa Valley. This tasting consists of four Single Vineyard wines. To carry the prestigious title of a single vineyard, 95% of the fruit must come from that vineyard. The goal of a single vineyard wine is to highlight the terroir or unique growing conditions of the site (such as soil, climate, aspect). Hosted in our historic Tasting Barn or a private patio table (weather permitting), the tasting changes frequently and may include vintages from Tonella, Stagecoach, Morisoli, Lamoreaux, or Henry Brothers Vineyards. Cheese and charcuterie are available to add on during your visit.

Non-Member: $50 Per Person | Club Member: Complimentary For Four Guests
Reservations required. Limit 6 per party.
